Amy of Denmark was founded in 1969 in Wheaton, Maryland by

Amy and Tony Cordaro and has since been considered a leader

and innovator in both synthetic and human hair goods and services.

Aside from wig sales, our services include washing, styling, coloring and repair

for your wigs. We also provide a full compliment of hair care and

specialized wig care products.

Upon arrival: no appointment necessary, you will be greeted and welcomed to look around, talk to other customers or watch us work.  You may want to try on a few styles of hair or hats while you wait to be taken care of by our competent staff. Since we don’t make appointments,

all are welcome at any time during regular business hours. 

During your consultation/fitting, you might be shown several types of hair

and we will answer any questions or concerns that you might have

regarding your wig and your own natural hair. We will do our best

at this time to fit you with the best possible hair type, style

and color to fit your face and personality.

Upon an agreeable decision, your new wig will be cut or trimmed and styled to fit your face. 

Our services include sizing the wig to fit your head properly. We might also color, highlight or perm the wig.  In most cases, you will be able to take your new hair home with you the same day.

A large percentage of our clients are experiencing hair loss due to

chemotherapy or radiation treatments, in which case we can help

to answer any medical insurance coverage questions and

provide the proper claim form with instructions.

 For our cancer related clients, we may offer

to cut or shave your hair before the time that it falls out from the treatments in order

to keep it from matting on your head.  If your hair is of significant length, we may discuss

the possibility of cutting your hair to create a "halo" (a band of your own hair)  for you to wear under a hat or other head covering. 

Amy’s also offers a variety of hats and head coverings for both casual and sleepwear.

Many of our customers establish such a rapport with others here who are in similar circumstances that they have come to know that spending time at Amy’s is like having a support group every time you walk through the door.
