is owned and operated by Guy Davis. He has been moving houses, buildings and all sorts of structures for over 30 years. A fourth generation house and building mover who grew up on Long Island, he has worked hard to create a company that pairs the sound values of the past while embracing both the technology of the future.
House moving reduces the cost of a project, saves space in landfills and reduces the amount of new material needed. Most of all I feel good about creating an affordable alternative to new construction. House moving creates the number one source of low cost housing available today and is the oldest form of recycling.
Davis Construction is always striving to give you the best service, price and workmanship possible. Quality, safety and service are our top priorities.
Davis Construction - personal service and simple solutions
Services...Our services include all types of structural moving. We also offer raising, leveling, shoring, cellar and basement digs, beach work, heavy hauling, roof raising and unified precision jacking services. We have saved churches on the beach, mansions from the ocean, moved a Long Island Rail Road car through the streets, and moved “The Casino” restaurant on a barge. Most of our work is on Long Island, but we are willing to travel for special projects.
A large percentage of our work is saving houses from the encroaching ocean and raising homes for the digging of a basement or cellar. We also do lots of leveling, shoring, elevating and foundation replacement projects. Some of our favorite projects have been historical moves so don’t be afraid that your home may be too old to be moved or raised.
People... Davis Construction employs highly skilled workman many of whom have spent most of their careers in the structural moving trade. Several have been with the company since its inception.
Reputation... Our reputation is untarnished in the field of structural moving. We have a flawless record of quality work, customer service and dedication. Please visit our photo gallery for many examples of our hard work. Regardless of the size and complexity of a project, we have demonstrated time and again our capability to swiftly and successfully complete jobs.
What it takes... Moving a structure requires a combination of geometry, physics, the use of simple machinery coupled with common sense. During our site estimates there is no hard sell and no pressure to make an immediate decision. We prefer to send you an estimate and then let you take the time to decide what’s right for you and your home.
Referrals... We work with many local architects, contractors, builders and masons to help get you the right price to get the job done. We can make recommendations and obtain estimates from any of our associates for you. Just let us know what you need.
Equipment... We maintain the most technologically advanced equipment available. From unified jack systems, hydraulic dollies, service rigging transports to new structural steel, sound transporter vehicles and safety gear we are prepared for any project. We employ Jahn’s Jacking Systems, the number one jacking system in the world, while our local competitors use jacking systems from the 1970's. Our most frequently employed tools consist of hydraulic equipment including everything from simple hand jacks to “floating” structures on multiple hydraulic dollies. Our new Mack truck was selected for the October calendar page of the Gabrielli truck catalog.
WHY CHOOSE HOUSE MOVING?
House Moving has been around for over 400 years because it’s both good for the environment and good for your wallet. Raising your home provides instant home equity. Raising your home to extend the height of the basement or creating a new full basement from a crawl space is the most cost effective way to double the square footage of your home. The cost of finishing a basement or main floor is 60% to 70% less than adding on the same amount of square footage. For every $1 spent on raising and improving your home you will increase its value by a $1.50.
Plus…You can avoid the costs of selling your home and purchasing a larger home. Imagine skipping the real estate fees, land transfer tax, legal fees and moving costs; and you can stay in the area you want to be in.
And…Recycling your home is as environmentally friendly as it is financially sound. All the building materials are recycled and landfill space is not consumed. House moving is the number one source of low cost housing.
