When the homeowners of this house decided they no longer wanted to keep their home, they agreed to sell it to their neighbor, except they wanted to keep the property. So.... They moved it!
With some help
"Stan Kazel of Dawn House & Building Movers, who came highly recommended, was hired to take on the challenge of moving this 300 ton mansion will both fireplaces attached" - Newsday.
This 600,000 pound Victorian styled mansion in Southampton New York, was elevated and a 13 foot basement was excavated underneath.
The story behind this job began when the homeowners discovered the 200+ locust posts holding up their dream home were deteriorating. After planning the job, they hired Dawn by lowest bid. We then elevate the structure off of the rotten locust posts, remove all locust posts, and excavate a 13 foot basement.
"Dawn Moves The Island"
Located on Shelter Island. We raised this 300 ton - 150 year old house three feet and escavated a 12 foot basement underneath.
