Pioneer Valley Mental Health Clinic
Pioneer Valley Mental Health Clinic (PVMHC) provides mental health and dual diagnosis treatment and support primarily to adults. The programs below are funded by the Community United Way and most third-party payers. Located at 110 Maple Street, PVMHC hours are Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Integrated psychiatry services are provided through the Community Care Mental Health Medication Clinic, located at 273 State Street, Springfield.
Our professional staff has a variety of specialties including major mental illness, affective disorders, trauma, OCD, family conflict, and working with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals. Services include:

Mount Tom Mental Health Center
Mount Tom Mental Health Center (MTMHC) provides a fully integrated behavioral health system featuring:
Psychiatric Emergency Services
The Crisis Team provides prompt and helpful responses to individuals who reside in Belchertown, Bondsville, Chicopee, Granby, Holyoke, Ludlow, Monson, Palmer, South Hadley, Southampton, and Ware and who are experiencing a crisis due to an acute or chronic psychiatric condition. The goal of intervention is to stabilize individuals and their support systems, and return them to their usual level of functioning through direct provision of services or referral to appropriate community resources. The Crisis Team offers the following services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:
- Telephone Consultation, Information, and Referral
- Face-to-Face Crisis Assessments: On-Site or Mobile
- Telephone Support
- Follow-Up Counseling
Crisis Stabilization Services
The Crisis Stabilization unit is designed to provide continuous 24-hour observation and supervision for individuals who do not require the intensive medical treatment of hospital care. Services include:
- Ongoing Assessment of Psychological Functioning
- Medication Evaluation and Management
- Psycho-Educational/Clinical Groups
- Linkages to Ongoing Support Groups
- Coordination with Community Providers
- Case Coordination
- Couples and Family Counseling
- Individualized Treatment Planning
Outpatient Services
MTMHC's Outpatient Clinic provides a full range of on-site and outreach mental health services Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Services include:
- Diagnostic Evaluations, Intake, and Referral
- Individual, Group, Family, and Couples Therapy
- Mental Health for Developmentally Disabled
- Substance Abuse Assessment and Treatment
- Mental Health Treatment for Senior Citizens
- Medication Management
- Latino Mental Health Services
- Psychological Testing
Community Care Mental Health Center
Community Care Mental Health Center (CCC) provides mental health and dual diagnosis treatment and support to adults (17 and older). Programs below are funded by DMH, DMR, and/or most third-party payers. CCC's hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The following programs are offered through the Community Care Mental Health Center:
Medication Clinic
Psychiatric evaluations, as well as prescription and monitoring of psychotropic medications, are provided. The staff of RNs, clinical nurse specialists, and psychiatrists provide the following services:
- Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluations
- Medication Monitoring and Maintenance
- Health/Medication Education
Senior's Program
This program, staffed by an RN, clinical nurse specialist, and a psychiatrist, specializes in serving individuals 55 years and older. The Senior's Program offers:
- Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluations
- Medication Monitoring and Maintenance
- Consultation to Primary Care Physicians
- Outreach to Clients in Nursing Homes
- Health/Medication Education
- Family Support and Consultation
Day Treatment Program
This professionally staffed and managed program has various specialty tracks for individuals with the following problems: an acute mental illness, a serious and persistent mental illness, and dually diagnosed individuals with a mental illness and addiction. The program is up to 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, and provides:
- Individualized Treatment
- Stabilization of Acute Symptoms
- Stress/Distress Management
- Group Therapy
- Prevention or Reduced Length of Psychiatric Hospitalization
- Psycho-Education/Addiction Education
- Relapse Prevention
- Discharge and Aftercare Planning
Residential Services
Administration offices for residential services are located in the Community Care Mental Health Center. The program is funded by DMH and DMR with homes sited throughout Hampden County. This is a closed referral program, with all referrals coming from DMH or DMR. These services include 24-hour staffed residences and home shares.
Forensic Mental Health Services
Forensic Mental Health Services, a program of Behavioral Health Network, Inc., provides mental health expertise to the courts and jails in Hampden, Hampshire, and Berkshire Counties. Services are for District and Superior Courts, Juvenile Courts, and Hampden and Hampshire County Houses of Correction.
Referrals must be made through the courts and correctional system and are not accepted from self-referred individuals or other professionals.
