Elodie Silva brings shoes that fit to kids at Harrison Elementary School. Elodie is responsible for forming this widely successful program that truely makes a difference for children who are in need of shoes and clothes.
In 1992 a story of a little boy at Roosevelt Elementary School in Pomona touched her heart. The little boy was in the principal's office several times a day complaining that his feet hurt. It was dicovered that his toes were turned under and his feet had been crammed into shoes two sizes too small. Elodie was stunned to find out that there were many more needy children in this local neighborhood school.
Elodie soon found herself posting requests for new shoes for the children at a local college campus where she worked. Eight years later, Elodie resides as the president of the nine-member board of Shoes That Fit. The organization now provides shoes and clothes to needy children with the aid of more than 40 colleges, companies, service clubs, churches, synagogues, and foundations in seven states.
