David K. Honness is an associate of the law firm of Alan H. Schorr & Associates. Prior to his admittance to the New Jersey Bar, he clerked for Peter M. Halden, Esquire. He was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Honness spent several years living and working in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. He worked for Senator Timothy E. Wirth (D-Col.) and Senator Bill Bradley (D-NJ) before becoming a Professional Staff Member for the House of Representatives Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries. He worked for the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation from 1991-1992 and the Subcommittee on Merchant Marine from 1993-1995, both under the Chairmanship of William O. Lipinski (D-Il.). In 1993, Mr. Honness was a member of the U.S. Delegation to a Maritime Security Committee meeting of the International Maritime Organization, a branch of the United Nations.
Mr. Honness earned a Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Maryland and a Juris Doctor from the Syracuse University College of Law, where he was the 1999-2000 Editor-in Chief of the Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce. He was also the co-winner of the College of Law's first Family Law and Social Policy Center Negotiation Competition, along with his teammate Mark Johnson.
Mr. Honness was a contributing writer to An Historical Guide to American Government, published by Oxford University Press in 1998.
