Enrollment

Universal Academy encourages the enrollment of students committed to acquiring an academic-focused education, developing quality leadership skills and enjoying the challenge of learning. Universal Academy also encourages parents/guardians of the enrolling child to consider themselves essential school partners in the education process.

The following steps are required in the Universal Academy enrollment procedure:

Note: A required Parent/Student Interview must be scheduled before a child is considered for enrollment at Universal Academy.

Step 1:  Parent Requests Application for Enrollment
Parent or legal guardian can call the school office to request a student enrollment application and/or download the Student Enrollment Application.

Step 2: Parent/Student Interview is Scheduled 
Based on the phone discussion, the school contact  will determine if the enrollment application will be sent through US mail for completion or if an immediate parent/student interview will be scheduled (at which time the application will be completed).

If the application is sent through the mail, the parent/guardian will complete the form and call the school to schedule an interview. (The parent will bring the completed enrollment form to the interview session.)

Step 3: Student Records are Submitted
If possible, the parent will bring a copy of the child's (1) birth certificate, (2) immunization records and (3) past school record to the parent/student interview. If this information is not available by the scheduled interview, the parent/guardian will be reminded that enrollment is not completed until all documents are submitted.

Step 4: Interview Discussion/Evaluation
Interview questions/discussion will include information regarding the child's academic and discipline records, the child's attitude about school and learning, and the parent/guardian's willingness to be involved in school initiatives and activities. (The school's CEO or designated school administrator will conduct the interview.)

Step 5: Responsible/Informed Decision
Based on the information in step 4, both parent/child and school will determine whether or not Universal Academy is an appropriate academic and affective match for the child. If school, parent and child agree that attending Universal Academy will be a responsible, productive school experience for the student, Universal Academy will extend an invitation of enrollment contingent on the understanding and signing of the Student Contract.

Step 6: Student Handbook and Student Contract
The enrolling child will be given a Student Handbook. Parent/Guardian and child will read the document and discuss any questions regarding the student contract (back page of Handbook). If the conditions of the contract are understood, the student will sign the agreement, indicating his/her academic / behavior commitment and the parent/guardian will sign the agreement, indicating his/her school support.

Note: The parent/guardian may take the Student Handbook home for further perusal/discussion before signing. However, Universal Academy will not officially enroll the child until the contract has been signed and returned. If the document is not receive within five (5) days of the interview date, the child's impending enrollment will be dismissed.

Step 7: Submission and Return of Student Contract
The parent and student will submit the signed Handbook/Student Contract to the interviewing person. A duplicate of the original, signed document will be sent to the parent/student by certified mail within thirty (30) days.
