Founded by Mike Burnham in 1989, Vermont Custom Auto Service, Inc., has been serving Burlington, VT, and the surrounding areas for over 20 years. We have built a solid reputation on customer satisfaction. We've achieved this through quality work, attention to detail and prompt service.
While it is often thought the "Custom" in our name reflects the type of cars we work on, it is in fact based on the type of service we look to offer each client. Our mission is: To provide professional, courteous service and quality workmanship to every customer.
It is with this mission in mind that our name came about. The "Custom" is that we customize our service to meet the needs of each client.

Who We Are...
Mike Burnham: Owner 
Mike started Vermont Custom Auto Service in 1989 with one bay on West Canal Street, Winooski. Mike started working on cars well before that in his Winooski back yard. Going through the Automotive Technology program in high school and working after school at a local shop provided him with an educational foundation and work ethic that continues today. After graduation, Mike joined the team at D. Richards Automotive in Colchester where he extended his knowledge while rebuilding vehicles and trouble shooting customer cars. An opportunity came about to rent a bay on West Canal Street and Mike, being driven to work for himself, jumped at the chance. This is where Vermont Custom Auto Service was born.
Two moves later, Vermont Custom Auto Service is housed in its own building, providing services to many of the same customers that walked into the one bay shop in Winooski. And much of this is in thanks to our customers who continue to refer their friends and family to us.
Mike continues to work in both the office and the shop providing direction and guidance to the staff. He also regularly attends classes in both shop management and vehicle repair to stay up to date on today’s ever changing vehicle technology.

Dave Lounsbury: Manager
Dave is back with Vermont Custom Auto Service having been away for a bit. When not working with customers, Dave, his wife Shari and their four kids are running to and from sporting event and other activities but find time to mountain and road bike, ski, hike & backpack and work around their Fairfax home.
David O'Grady 
- ASE Certified Technician
With over 25 years of auto repair experience, Dave is an skilled technician and craftsman. Starting when in junior high school, Dave helped out in his brother’s auto shop where he learned that this was the path for him. After attending the Essex Technical program, Dave started working for Sears Auto full time coupled with Midas part time. Sears provided advanced training where he became ASE Certified in Brakes, Electrical and Suspension. Looking for a place where he could better use his craftsmanship, Dave joined Vermont Custom Auto Service and is the lead on most Custom Exhaust systems. With his kids grown and gone, Dave and his wife enjoy camping, traveling and riding their motorcycles.
